How to Clean Furniture Mould

Cleaning Furniture Mould is an essential part of restoring your home, but the problem can become worse if you don’t follow the right process. The first step is to ensure that you dry the affected areas thoroughly before applying the cleaning agent. If possible, dry the furniture outside so that the air is free from humidity and moisture. Otherwise, using a strong fan in an isolated room is the best option. But do remember to use a specialized cleaner if you’re not comfortable cleaning your home by hand.

Once you’ve cleaned the surface of the mould, you should clean the furniture with a cleaning solution. It is vital to wear protective gear and gloves when doing this job, and use a low-abrasive scrub pad to avoid damaging the furniture’s wooden surfaces. Once you’ve finished the cleaning process, rub the furniture in a circular motion. You can repeat this procedure as needed. If the mould is still present, you should clean it with a specialised cleaner.

Alternatively, you can spray the affected area with distilled white vinegar and leave it on for an hour before wiping it with a dry cloth. Or, if you prefer a sanitiser that contains alcohol, you can use a mixture of a small amount of cheap vodka, which can be applied to a furniture mould and left to sit for 10 minutes. Once this solution has cured the mould, the furniture should look like new again.

If the mould is not completely gone, you can use a cleaning solution containing a mild acid to remove the mold. If you can’t do this, then you can try a cleaning solution made specifically for the purpose. To make sure the cleaning solution won’t damage the furniture finish, you should test the product on an inconspicuous area first. In the worst case scenario, you may have to sand and refinish the piece. Then, you can use a clear coat to seal the surface.

If you don’t want to risk the mould spreading, the next step is to disinfect the area. You can spray distilled white vinegar on a furniture to remove it from the environment. After a couple of hours, you should wipe it off with a clean cloth. Alternatively, you can use linseed oil to treat the affected surface of the wood. You’ll need to be patient while you work on the furniture, but if you do it right, it will last for years.

If you are unable to remove the mould on your own, you should hire a professional to help you. An expert will provide a free assessment of your property, as well as an estimate of the cost of removing the mould and the cost of repairs. After a thorough assessment, you can determine whether the furniture can be salvaged. If it can’t be saved, it should be replaced. If the furniture has been ruined, you should consider hiring a local mold inspection company.
